AlHijjah 21, 1432, Nov 17, 2011, SPA -- The Australian Government announced the freeze of assets of five persons suspected in their involvement in the attempted murder of the Saudi ambassador to the United States of America Adel Al-Jubeir. In a statement released this afternoon, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) announced five individuals have been listed in the Commonwealth Gazette under laws implementing United Nations' sanctions designed to suppress terrorism. Anyone who holds assets that are owned or controlled by any of them must freeze them, DFAT said. "A person who holds, or believes they hold assets, owned or controlled by the five men must immediately notify the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Australian Federal Police.'' The action forms part of Australia's obligations as a member of the United Nations, the DFAT statement said. -- SPA
