AlHijjah 18, 1432, Nov 14, 2011, SPA - European Union Governments reached a preliminary agreement on Monday to expand the sanctions imposed on Syria to include more individuals associated with the suppression of the demonstrators. An EU official said that the agreement, reached by the 27 EU member states envoys, is expected to be confirmed during a foreign ministers meeting later in Brussels. They will also endorse a decision to stop Syria getting funds from the European Investment Bank, the official was quoted as saying by Qatar News Agency (QNA). Last month, EU Leaders warned that Syria could face more sanctions if it did not stop the violence against the protesters.
