AlHijjah 18, 1432, Nov 14, 2011, SPA - Asia-Pacific leaders agreed measures designed to create jobs and liberalize regional trade on Sunday following talks hosted by US President Barack Obama. Obama said the creation of new jobs was "the single greatest challenge" for the United States. "One of the best ways to do that is to increase our trade with other nations," he said following a summit of 21 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders at the Ko Olina luxury resort near Honolulu. "The best thing that the United States can do for the global economy is to grow our own economy faster," Obama said. "I believe that the progress we have made here will help create jobs." The APEC leaders agreed to "adopt market-driven innovation policies, reduce tariffs and eliminate other barriers to trade in environmental goods and services, and improve regulatory environments to reduce unnecessary burdens on businesses," said a statement issued by the United States as the host nation. "These steps will help US growth and jobs by expanding export opportunities in the world's fastest growing region," the statement was quoted as saying by the German Press Agency "DPA".
