AlHijjah 17, 1432, Nov 13, 2011, SPA -- A Senior British official condemned here today attacks on a number of diplomatic missions in Damascus and Lattakia cities in Syria. In a press statement circulated by the Foreign Office this evening, British Minister of State for Middle Eastern Affairs Alastair Burt said: "I condemned the attacks targeted the embassies of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Qatar in Damascus as well as French and Turkish consulates in the Syrian city of Lattakia". Minister Burt stressed that by allowing for the occurrence of such attacks, the Syrian regime demonstrates once again that its first reaction is repression and intimidation," pointing out that "the cycle of violence should be stopped now in the interest of the Syrians. " The British official also expressed support of the efforts exerted by the Arab League (AL) to end the killings of the Syrian people, stressing that the diplomatic missions of AL member states should not be subjected to any attack as a result of these efforts. -- SPA
