AlHijjah 17, 1432, Nov 13, 2011, SPA -- UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon arrived here Sunday, his first stop on a three-nation Asian tour to promote United Nations programmes and visit Bangkok's flood-affected areas, as dpa reported. Ban was to survey Bangladesh's progress in maternal and child health care in rural communities, and visit the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research during his three-day visit. He was also scheduled to meet the families of Bangladeshi soldiers killed in UN peacekeeping missions. The UN leader is to address a climate change conference in which representatives of 32 countries from the Americas, Africa and Asia-Pacific will be present.
