AlHijjah 16, 1432, Nov 12, 2011, SPA -- Eight South Korean seamen were reported missing on Saturday after their fishing boat collided with a cargo ship near the country's western coast. The small fishing boat, carrying nine crew members, sank in the early morning hours after colliding with a 2116-ton cargo ship, radio network KBS reported. The boat's machinist was rescued by another fishing boat, dpa reported. According to the rescued crew member, all except the captain were asleep when the accident occurred. The cargo ship was left unaffected by the collision. The accident took place near the coast town Taean, some 110 kilometres south of Seoul. Coast guard officials sent several ships and a helicopter to the site of the accident to search for the missing.
