AlHijjah 13, 1432, Nov 9, 2011, SPA - Floodwaters on Wednesday reached a highway linking Thailand's capital to southern provinces, threatening transport and goods deliveries to tourist destinations such as Phuket and Samui islands. Bangkok governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra said runoff from the northern part of the capital had flowed onto a section of the Rama II Highway in western Bangkok, the Bangkok Post online service reported. The central plains were hard hit by devastating floods that have claimed 529 lives and caused billions of dollars in damages. Flooding was reported in about 23 of Bangkok's 50 districts Wednesday, according to a report of the German Press Agency "DPA".
