AlHijjah 4, 1432, Oct 31, 2011, SPA -- On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Makkah Region, opened here today the 12th Makkah Conference, organized by the Muslim World League (MWL) under the theme "Islamic D'awah - Presence and Future". The opening ceremony was attended by the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh, who is also President of Senior Scholars Council and General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta. Upon arrival at the venue, Prince Khalid was received by MWL Secretary General Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulmohsen Al-Turki and MWL senior officials. A speech ceremony was held on this occasion. Addressing the gathering on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Prince Al-Faisal welcomed pilgrims from all over the world. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, praised the motto of the conference since it is focusing on the interaction of the Muslim Ummah and outreach to other nations, to prove that Islam's message is not directed solely to a particular nation nor excluding others. The monarch called for highlighting the correct version of Islam, showing its moderation and conformity with human nature and nullifying anti-Islam logic and controversy. He urged Muslims to provide an ideal example for true Islam. He gave an account of the Kingdom's endeavor to live up to this approach, citing its efforts to build a number of mosques, Islamic centers, institutes, schools, and academies throughout the world, offer scholarships and training courses to Muslim youths, and spread the culture of peace, co-existence and dialogue among different civilizations and religions. The monarch also noted the efforts exerted by the Kingdom in the fight against terrorism. Islam's instructions reject terror and warn against its dangers, he said, adding that Islam is derived from the holy Quran and prophet's Sunnah.
