AlHijjah 2, 1432, Oct 29, 2011, SPA - Southern Peru was hit by a magnitude 6.9 earthquake on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The earthquake was centered fifty kilometers south of Ica, a coastal city, and witnesses said the earthquake shook buildings in Peru's capital Lima. There was no immediate warning of a tsunami. Peru experiences earthquakes frequently because it lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, which is a volcanically and seismically active area.
