AlQa'dah 21, 1432, Oct 19, 2011, SPA -- The Gulf Transport and Railways Conference wound up here today and was attended by more than 600 participants. Some 40 working papers were presented at the conference on strategies to develop the sector of transport and communications as well as on the roads network in GCC countries. The conference discussed investment in the railway sector, partnership between the government and private sectors and the role of the transport sector in trade and logistic services. The conference underlined the importance of increasing private investment in the railway sector and ameliorating expertise in the sector in GCC countries. It called for setting up joint GCC logistic companies and employing best world standards in the transport sector as well as facilitating the movement of passengers and goods across border posts. The participants recommended organizing the conference every two years to contribute to the development of the sector in the GCC, QNA reported.
