AlQa'dah 18, 1432, Oct 16, 2011, SPA -- The death toll has risen in Pakistan, which has been inundated by a wave of torrential rains and flooding, UPI quoted officials said. Eight people, including two children, died within the past 24 hours in Badin, where more than 1 million people are suffering from malnutrition, Dawn News reported Sunday. Epidemic diseases and flood-related accidents are reportedly to blame for at least 290 deaths in Badin, the most affected region in Pakistan. A relief camp in Tando Bagho reported the deaths of four people including three children. A 3-year-old child was claimed by gastroenteritis, while a 7-year-old girl drowned in flood waters. Meanwhile, one person in Golarchi died from a snake bite. The areas of Malkani Shareef, Khoski and Panjrio are still reporting 3- to-5-feet of water, officials said.
