AlQa'dah 5, 1432, Oct 3, 2011, SPA - A Russian Soyuz 2-1B rocket has placed successfully a satellite in orbit. This reflects Russia's space program and the International Space Station (ISS) are proceeding ahead on right-track, according to Monday news reports. The mission from Russia's Pesetsk space centre delivered a Glonass navigation satellite to a standard orbit on Tuesday night, a statement from the national space agency Roscosmos said. Glonass is the Russian version of the US GPS satellite navigation system. The launch raised to total number of satellites in the Glonass system to 42, according to a statement from the US space agency NASA.
