AlQa'dah 3, 1432, Oct 1, 2011, SPA - A typhoon struck the northern Philippines Saturday dumping heavy rains and causing powerful winds in the same area hit by another storm five days earlier. The weather bureau said Typhoon Nalgae, with maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometres per hour (kph) and gusts of 195 kph, made landfall in the town of Dinapigue in Isabela province, 240 kilometres north of Manila. Isabela and several northern provinces, including Manila, were impacted by Typhoon Nesat that killed 57 people and left 31 missing earlier in the week. The Office of Civil Defence (OCD) said damage to infrastructure and crops because of Nesat was estimated to be at least 5.97 billion pesos ($135 million), according to a report of the German Press Agency "DPA".
