The magnitude-6.7 earthquake, which hit Aceh in the wee hours of Tuesday, killed a child and damaged more than ten schools and community health centers in Subulssalam town, Aceh Province. The 11-year old child was killed and two other peoples were injured after their house collapsed due to the earthquake, Subulussalam Administration Secretary Damhuri told ANTARA today. Twelve elementary schools, an Islamic boarding schools, three community health centers, and two rural health centers, were damaged in the natural disaster, he said. Besides, the earthquake also damaged tens of houses and office buildings, he said. "We are currently making an inventory on the number of damaged houses," he said. The earthquake, which occurred on Tuesday at 00.55 am local time, did not have potential to trigger a subsequent tsunami. The quake's epicenter was located at 2.81 degrees of northern latitude, and 97.85 degrees of eastern longitude, and 59 km northeast of Singkilbaru, Aceh Province, as well as around 78 km southwest of Kabanjahe, North Sumatra. The earthquake was also felt by residents of Kutacane (Southeast Aceh), Tapaktuan (South Aceh), Banda Aceh (Aceh Province), Kabanjahe, Medan, and Balige (North Sumatra).
