China will recognize Libya's National Transitional Council as the country's legitimate government "when conditions are ripe", a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said on Tuesday, without elaborating. China has been in close contact with the NTC and supports its role in Libya, spokeswoman Jiang Yu told a regular news briefing, according to a report of Reuters.
