South Korea said Thursday it has agreed with Sri Lanka to forge closer cooperation on efforts to rebuild the South Asian nation that ended decades of civil war three years ago, as Yonhap reported. The agreement was reached after talks in Seoul between South Korean Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan and his Sri Lankan counterpart, External Affairs Minister Gamini Peiris, earlier in the day, the ministry said in a statement. "At the talks, Minister Peiris asked South Korean companies to actively participate in post-civil war reconstruction projects, particularly in the fields of irrigation and energy, in northern and eastern Sri Lanka," the statement said.
