The Russian cargo spacecraft Progress M-11M that undocked from the International Space Station on Aug. 23 finished its mission and plunged into the southern Pacific Ocean on Thursday, Russia's Mission Control Center said. According to Xinhua, a center spokesman told reporters that the Progress M-11M re-entered the atmosphere at about 13:33 Moscow time (0933 GMT) and its remaining fragments fell into the southern Pacific at about 14:22 Moscow time (1022 GMT). The spokesman added the area hit by the spacecraft was thousands of kilometers east of New Zealand, far from shipping routes. The twin of the Progress M-11M, the Progress M-12M, was supposed to dock with the ISS on Aug. 24, but the spacecraft failed to reach orbit due to a rocket malfunction and fell in the Altai region in southern Siberia.
