French President Sarkozy Calls for United EU Stance on Palestinian Statehood

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has expressed hope that the 27 countries of the European Union will speak in a single voice regarding the recognition of a Palestinian state at the UN in September.
During the annual conference of French ambassadors in Paris last Sunday, Sarkozy said, “We must live up to our responsibilities. France will take initiatives, and we want the unity of Europe,” according to a report carried today by the Palestine News and Information Agency "WAFA".
