Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen Friday called a general election for September 15. Rasmussen, in office since 2009, heads a minority government consisting of his Liberal Party and the conservatives that has ruled Denmark since 2001. The prime minister had to call a general election by November. The last elections were held in November 2007. Recent polls suggest that the government - which has ruled with the backing of the anti-immigrant Danish-People' Party - trails the left-leaning opposition by a big margin. -- SPA
