Tropical storm Harvey threatened Friday the coast of Belize and Honduras' Bay Islands, with sustained winds of up to 65 kilometres per hour and higher gusts, according to the Miami-based US National Hurricane Centre (NHC), dpa reported. Harvey is the eighth storm of the Atlantic season, which started on June 1 and is set to end on November 30. It is located 250 kilometres east of Roatan, on Honduras' Bay Islands, and 460 kilometres southeast of Belize City, the NHC said. It was moving west at 17 kilometres per hour. "On the forecast track, the centre of Harvey will pass near the Bay Islands of Honduras tonight and move across the coast of Belize Saturday or Saturday night," the NHC said. The storm was expected to strengthen before reaching Belize. The coast of Guatemala and that of Mexico's Yucatan peninsula were also watching the storm's evolution closely.
