Six suicide bombers attacked the British Council offices in Kabul on Friday killing nine people, including two foreign security guards and an international soldier, officials said according to dpa. Afghan Interior Ministry in a statement said eight people were killed in the suicide attack and the following gun-battle that lasted for eight hours. Earlier, an Afghan official had said ten people were killed in the attack. "Two of the suicide bombers detonated their explosive-laden vehicles at the gate of the Council, enabling the other attackers to enter," the Interior Ministry statement said. "The remaining four suicide bombers were in burkas and equipped with suicide vests and rifles who clashed with police for hours." "Two of the bombers were gunned down by the police forces while the other two blew themselves up," the ministry said. "As result of these attacks, eight people including four police,two Afghan guards and two Nepalese security guards of the British Council were killed." The ministry also said 22 others were injured, including 15 policemen, four Afghan security guards, a municipality worker, a civilian and a Nepalese guard. The Afghan police forces also rescued two women and two men, all of whom were foreign nationals, the Interior Ministry said.
