The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud will lay, on Friday, the foundation stone for the expansion project of the holy Mosque of Makkah on an area of 400000 m2. Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Alkhozim, Vice President General for the holy Mosque of Makkah, said that the expansion project in the northern part of the holy Mosque of Makkah will be implemented according to the latest and the finest electrical and mechanical systems for buildings of expansion and squares surrounding them. He added that the expansion will meet all requirements, preparations and basic services such as modern systems for waste disposal, security surveillance systems and provision of drinking water. After its completion, the new expansion will accommodate more than one million and two hundred thousand worshipers. King Abdullah expansion project is linked to the first Saudi expansion and to the Massa'a through multiple bridges to provide a safe movement connection for the crowds, Dr. Alkhozim said. He also pointed out that the expansion project will provide an integrated system of vertical movement elements which includes escalators and stairs as well as elevators with the highest standards of sustainability through the provision of energy and natural resources in addition to the adoption of best air conditioning and lighting systems.
