Slovenian Interior Minister Katarina Kresal announced Wednesday she was resigning over irregularities reported by state auditors, according to dpa. The move reduces the chances of Prime Minister Borut Pahor's minority cabinet of averting early polls at a time when it is attempting to push through emergency financing because of the economic crisis. Kresal had offered her resignation to Pahor earlier this week after the auditing court found "corrupt practices" in the interior ministry's lease of a building for a new investigative agency. The ministry rented the building from an alleged friend of Kresal's. -- SPA
