France is delaying a new generation nuclear plant for two years after two accidents and safety reviews prompted by Japan's disaster, AP reported. Electricite de France, the world's largest nuclear plant operator, says the EPR reactor at Flamanville in western France will go online in 2016 instead of 2014. The new reactor has already faced repeated delays and cost overruns. EDF says in a statement Wednesday it is reorganizing the construction calendar after two accidents, one of which forced civil engineering work to be suspended. The accident at Japan's Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant following a tsunami in March has led some governments to rethink their commitment to nuclear energy. -- SPA
