The European Union's top foreign policy official says restarting peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians is more important than a possible U.N. resolution on Palestinian statehood, according to AP. Catherine Ashton said on her way into a meeting of EU foreign ministers Monday that no one yet knows what the resolution would say. She says it would be up to individual countries, not the EU, to decide whether to support the Palestinians' efforts at a resolution in the U.N. General Assembly. Ashton says, "the critical thing for me is a Palestinian state in reality." She says "that means getting the talks moving and getting a resolution to this, so I'm putting all my energy into that."
