The US unemployment rate for June was 9.2 percent, up slightly from the previous month, in a sign that the job market remains stagnant even as the economic recovery slowly nudges forward. The US Bureau of Labour Statistics said Friday that 18,000 jobs were added in June, the slowest pace in nine months. A Bloomberg News forecast, based on a survey of economists, predicted 105,000 new jobs for the month. May's unemployment rate was 9.1 per cent. The number of unemployed people stood at 14.1 million, said the monthly report, which bases the figure on those actively seeking jobs. Since March, the number of unemployed has increased by 545,000, and the unemployment rate has risen by 0.4 percentage points.
