Six policemen were killed Wednesday when an unknown number of armed militants attacked a checkpoint in southern Afghanistan, a government spokesman said. The attack occurred in Qarabagh district of Ghazni province on Wednesday morning, governor's spokesman Maroof Ayobi was quoted as saying by the German Press Agency "DPA". Ayobi said at least six policemen died. He did not say how many assailants were involved. The Interior Ministry said Wednesday that five insurgents were killed by Afghan and coalition forces in south-eastern province of Paktia. "Four other suspected insurgents were detained," it said.
