Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Al-Arabi confirmed here today that recognition of the Palestinian state is completely contrary to what is echoed by Israeli media which claims that it is tantamount to deprive Israel of its legitimacy, pointing out that the declaration of the Palestinian state is based on the Resolution of the General Assembly of United Nations no: 181 issued in 1947. In a press statement, Al-Arabi added that the diplomatic action in September seeling the recognition of the Palestinian state in addition to its admission to the UN is a mere diplomatic procedure, amid the continuous Israeli intransigent stance that rejects the basis of negotiation, ending occupation and conflict. Recognition of the Palestinian state does not aim at delegitimize Israel, he stated. -- SPA
