The White House on Tuesday said that U.S. President Barack Obama and the visiting Crown Prince of Bahrain, Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa met at the White House. In a statement issued here last night, the White House said "The President reaffirmed the strong commitment of the United States to Bahrain. He welcomed King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's decision to end the State of National Safety early and the announcement that the national dialogue on reform would begin in July." Obama "also expressed strong support for the Crown Prince's ongoing efforts to initiate the national dialogue." He also emphasized the importance of following through on the government's commitment to ensure that those responsible for violations of human rights will be held accountable.
