The African Union on Thursday said it would continue to seek a political solution to the ongoing crisis, it was reported here. African heads of state and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon met for the extraordinary AU summit in Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa. The AU demanded an immediate ceasefire and a pause in NATO-led airstrikes to enable humanitarian assistance. The AU is considering deploying an observer mission to Libya that could facilitate the subsequent establishment of a larger international mission involving the United Nations, the League of Arab States, the AU and other organizations.
