The list of those still missing after the Missouri tornado now stands at 232 people, state police said Thursday according to dpa. The twister that ravaged the town of Joplin, Missouri, on Sunday has already tallied a grim toll of 125 dead. The list of those officially registered as missing was released by the Missouri Department of Public Safety, which said it has assumed control of the process of locating them under a directive from Missouri Governor Jay Nixon. The search team includes more than 60 police, emergency management officials and local detectives, the department said on its website. Names are being cross-referenced with hospitals and shelters, where more than 500 people have sought refuge. A total of nine people have been pulled live from the wreckage. The unusually strong EF-5 twister destroyed or damaged thousands of buildings in the town of Joplin, cutting a swath 1.6 kilometres wide and 10 kilometres long.
