Deputy Minister of Interior Makes Statement
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 26 - 05 - 2011

Madianh, Jumada II 23, 1432, May 26, 2011, SPA -- Prince Ahmad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Minister of Interior Affairs, made a press statement after patronizing the ceremony to hand prizes to the winners of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz International Contest for Prophet's Sunnah and Contemporary Islamic Studies.
In reply to a question about some media outlets' position on the Kingdom's firm stances, Prince Ahmad said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an ancient country and has more than one hundred years.
"I think that this period is sufficient for Muslims and Arabs especially and all the world to know what the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stands for. It is also enough that Makkah and Al-Madinah are on the territories of the Kingdom. The efforts and diligence exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are to make this country safe for its citizens and those coming for Hajj and Umrah. Anyone denying or trying to cast doubt on the efforts of the Kingdom falls in one of two categories: a hateful and jealous or ignorant and misled. We welcome anyone who wants to visit the Kingdom, especially the Muslims."
In a reply to question about renewing claims recently about women's driving of cars, Prince Ahmad said: "Any claims may be received from anybody could be right or wrong, but a statement had already been issued in 1411H about women's driving of cars in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia disallowing women to drive cars. The Ministry of Interior is still implementing this issuance but we could not say that this is correct or wrong, this is not our work, we implement the regulation."
Responding to a question on Saudi anti-terrorism preemptive strikes, He said, "Some Saudi youths adopted the deviant thought basically believing that they were fighting for the sake of God. I think it is obvious for Muslims that fighting among Muslims is prohibited and that it is also prohibited for a Muslim to attack a non-Muslim without a guilt or reason. In the past for example in Afghanistan, there was an invasion of a Muslim country and the youths from the kingdom and others fought to repel this aggression. But, when this fires back on Muslim countries and Muslims kill each other, then this is Islamically illegal and has no benefit at all and all its results are negative for those perpetrating it and those inciting it. This doesn't satisfy God and its fate will be failure."
