The area of wildfires in Russia grew by almost 11,500 hectares over the past day. The wildfire rate is the highest in Yakutia, the Amur region, the Krasnoyarsk territory and the Khanty-Mansi autonomous district, a source at the Emergency Situations Ministry told Itar-Tass on Sunday. "In all, Russia had 454 wildfires on the total area of nearly 107,000 hectares and 270 of them were put out. Some 184 wildfires persist on the total area of over 87,400 hectares," he said. "The situation may exacerbate in Buryatia, Khabarovsk, trans-Baikal, Krasnoyarsk and Altai territories, Irkutsk, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk and Tomsk regions," the source added.
