The king of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, on Friday announced he will marry a 20-year-old commoner in a simple ceremony in October, dpa reported. "As king, it is time for me to marry," he was quoted by the Bhutan Observer newspaper as having told Parliament in the tiny Himalayan country. "As my queen, I have found such a person and her name is Jetsun Pema. While she is young, she is warm and kind in heart and character," he said. Pema and the Oxford-educated king have reportedly known each other for some time. She is a graduate of London's Regents College. According to the king, they would have a simple traditional wedding. "I ask the government not to make any plans for a grand celebration," Wangchuck. The public greeted the news of the impending royal wedding with joy.
