Guatemalan national police say at least 27 people are dead in a massacre in a northern region overrun with drug traffickers, according to AP. The National Civil Police say 25 men and two women were killed in an ambush by gunmen in the town of Caserio La Bomba in Guatemala's Peten province. Police say they are investigating whether the attack is related to Saturday's killing of Haroldo Leon, who is the brother of alleged Guatemalan trafficker Juan Jose «Juancho» Leon. «Juancho» was killed in 2008 by Mexico's Zetas drug gang. The Zetas have gained increasing control of the drug trade beyond Mexico. Guatemalan in February lifted a two-month-long state of siege Alta Verapaz province and arrested at least 20 suspected members of the Zetas gang.
