Britain's defense ministry says a marine has been killed by a bomb blast in the Nad-e-Ali district of Afghanistan's Helmand province, as AP reported. Lt. Col. Tim Purbrick said the serviceman, from 42 Commando Royal Marines, died on Sunday when an improvised bomb exploded during the search of a compound. Purbrick said the marine had been involved in an operation investigating suspected insurgent activity. He said the marines were working in the Loy Mandeh Wadi area of Nad-e-Ali when the device detonated.
