Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Abdul-Latif al-Zayani arrived in Sana'a on Saturday evening to continue his talks with Yemeni parties on the current crisis in the country and the Gulf initiative. An official statement quoted GCC chief as saying that the aim of his visit is to continue consultations with all Yemeni parties and "we hope everyone return to the Gulf initiative aimed at maintaining Yemen's security, stability and unity and preventing any bloodshed of the Yemeni people". "Yemen is essential to us all... we consider it an extension of the Gulf and the Yemenis are our people", al-Zayani added. "We want to prevent any bloodshed and maintain the security, integrity and stability of Yemen. These are of the main objectives of the GCC leaders and their Foreign Ministers". The GCC official went on to say "The issue of Yemen has the highest priority in the GCC. We will continue our efforts until we reach a solution acceptable to everyone for maintaining civil peace, security and safety in Yemen".
