Authorities say two small planes have crashed in a wooded area in upstate New York, and a newspaper reports that one person is dead, according to AP. State Trooper Arthur Worden says the two single-engine planes crashed about 3 p.m. Monday, about 60 miles (100 kilometers) north of New York City. He says authorities don't know yet how many people were aboard the planes or whether the aircraft collided. Emergency workers are converging on the scene. John Horan, Orange County Fire Coordinator, tells the Times Herald-Record of Middletown that one person is dead.
