U.S. assistant secretary of state for refugee issues will travel to Geneva, Iraq, Israel, and the West Bank from May 2-12, 2011, the State Department announced Monday. “In Geneva, Assistant Secretary [Eric] Schwartz will meet with United Nations officials, and international and civil society organizations to review current and future humanitarian initiatives,” the department said in a statement. “During a stop in Iraq, Assistant Secretary Schwartz will engage with government and U.N. officials, and representatives from other international and non-government organizations to discuss the return and local integration of displaced Iraqis, as well as support for displaced Iraqis refugees in the region,” the department said.
