Awwal 18, 1432 H / April 22, 2011, SPA -- President Barack Obama will host the visiting Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi next week to discuss “common strategic interests” between the two countries, the White House said Friday. “President Obama will welcome Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahayan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the White House on Tuesday, April 26th,” the White House said in a statement. “The president looks forward to discussing with the Crown Prince the strong ties between the United States and the UAE and our common strategic interests in the region.” The meeting was announced one week after the Crown Prince met with the chief of U.S. Central Command, General James Mattis, at a time of heightened tension between Arab countries in Iran. Obama's national security advisor, James Donilon, recently met the Crown Prince to discuss the UAE's role in the international civilian protection mission in Libya, and he conveyed Obama's invitation to visit Washington.
