Awwal 1432 H. / 15 April 2011, SPA -- The U.S. House of Representatives on Friday approved a Republican budget plan proposing to fundamentally overhaul the Medicare health plan for the elderly and slash budget deficits with sharp spending cuts on social programs for the poor like subsidized food and free healthcare. The non-binding plan establishes a fiscal vision cutting $6.2 trillion over the coming decade from the budget submitted by President Barack Obama. It passed in a 235-to-193 vote, with every Democrat voting against the measure.
