Awwal 11, 1432 / April 15, 2011, SPA -- (dpa) - Blaise Campaore, the president of Burkina Faso, briefly fled the national capital, Ouagadougou, Friday morning as soldiers reportedly staged a mutiny. Shots were overheard overnight into Friday in the barracks of the Burkinabe presidential guard, as well as at other military bases, reported the BBC. Campaore, who himself came to power with a coup 23 years ago, reportedly fled Ouagadougou, but returned during the course of Friday. A local journalist told the BBC that the home of Campaore's chief of staff had been burnt down. Additionally, a radio station aligned to Campaore had been attacked by mutinous soldiers.
