Awwal 04, 1432 H / April 08, 2011, SPA -- The European Union on Friday opened the door for Ivory Coast to resume its cocoa exports, lifting sanctions on the relevant entities at the request of the West African country's internationally recognized new leader, reported the dpa. Asset freezes on the ports of Abidjan and San Pedro, the Ivorian Refining Company and the Coffee and Cocoa Trade Management Committee have been removed, the EU Council said. The decision, which will come into force once it is published in the EU's official journal on Monday, is meant "to support the legitimate authorities" of Ivory Coast, the council said.
