Awwal 02, 1432 H/April 6, 2011, SPA -- The United States and Colombia have reached terms on a free-trade deal that has languished for years over opposition from US lawmakers over working conditions in Colombia, dpa quoted a US administration official as confirming Wednesday. The deal comes after months of intensive talks between the two governments and will still have to be approved by the legislatures in both countries. The agreement could unlock other pending US free-trade deals with South Korea and Panama. All three deals were first agreed under former president George W Bush but never ratified by the US Congress. President Barack Obama's administration has looked to renegotiate the terms of each, reaching a deal late last year with South Korea. US Trade Representative Ron Kirk and the White House were expected to make a formal announcement later Wednesday.
