U.S. Supports U.N. Resolution to Protect Former Ivory Coast Leader

Awwal 02, 1432, April 06, 2011, SPA -- The United States on Tuesday supported the United Nations in resolutions protecting former Ivory Coast leader Laurent Gbagbo, if he steps down from power, the State Department said on Tuesday.
"The United Nations has accepted that they would protect Gbagbo should he surrender, [and] should he give himself up," Spokesman Mark Toner said in his daily briefing.
