Akhir 26, 1432, March 31, 2011, SPA-- French President Nicolas Sarkozy arrived in Tokyo Thursday for talks with Prime Minister Naoto Kan about Japan's ongoing nuclear crisis, as dpa reported. Sarkozy is the first foreign leader to visit Japan since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. He offered support in the nuclear field as the country has been struggling to deal with an atomic power plant which was crippled by the twin disasters. Anne Lauvergeon, head of French nuclear fuel company AREVA, arrived in Tokyo Wednesday to help Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO), the operator of Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, deal with the crisis. At TEPCO's request, five AREVA experts were also joining its team to consider how to help the operator stabilize the plant, the French company said. The five are experts on radioactive effluent treatment and in the management of used fuel storage pools.
