Akhir 14, 1432 / March 19, 2011, SPA -- President of Jordanian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises Fathi Jaghbeer on Saturday discussed with a Romanian businessmen delegation means of boosting bilateral cooperation in the fields of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported. Jaghbeer said that Jordan enjoys security and stability as well as an attractive investment environment that is open to the global economy. He added that SMEs are an important component of the Jordanian national economy as they account for 85% of the whole institutions and contribute to 70% of the Gross Domestic Product. He highlighted opportunities available to boost Jordanian-Romanian cooperation and benefit from the Euro- Mediterranean Association Agreement as well as support provided by the European Union to develop SMEs sector in the Kingdom. The delegation stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two countries and building on the successful mutual visits and agreements signed by the two countries. Jordan's exports to Romania in 2010 amounted to JD17 million, while imports stood at JD76 million.
