Akhir 12, 1432 / March 17, 2011, SPA -- A family of seven was killed Thursday in a landslide triggered by two days of heavy rains in the eastern Philippines, a city mayor said. According to dpa, the victims were asleep when their house was buried in mud before dawn in a remote village in Tacloban City in Leyte province, 570 kilometres south-east of Manila. Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez said the bodies of the seven have been recovered. Romualdez said a large part of Tacloban has been submerged in floodwaters since late Wednesday, affecting thousands of residents.
