Akhir 10, 1432 / March 15, 2011, SPA -- Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad received here today Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs Trinidad Jimenez. During the meeting, they discussed the relations between Syria and Spain as well as the two sides' desire to continue bolstering these relations and boosting cooperation in various fields to benefit the two countries and their people. Talks dealt with the events currently being witnessed in some of the region's countries, with President Al-Assad saying that the region's people are the ones most capable of determining their destiny and drawing their future, and that any foreign military intervention in these countries will complicate problems and lead to dangerous results, noting that past experiences confirm this. The two sides also discussed the stalled Middle East peace process and the importance of rallying all efforts to achieve just and comprehensive peace. President Al-Assad stressed that peace is part and parcel, and that peace cannot be real and permanent unless it guarantees the return of the entire land and rights to their legitimate owners.
