Akhir 06, 1432 H. / March 11, 2011 -- Bank of Finland Governor Erkki Liikanen has been appointed for a second seven-year term as the head of the Nordic country's central bank, according to AP. The 60-year-old Liikanen has headed the bank since 2004. He is also a member of the rate-setting governing council of the European Central Bank. President Tarja Halonen approved Liikanen's appointment Friday after a parliamentary committee recommended the move. Liikanen is a former lawmaker and was Finland's finance minister from 1987 to 1990.
